NEC Australia signals strong growth for 2015

IT services and technology provider, NEC Australia, is on a growth path after transforming its business last year and securing a string of major contract wins.

NEC Australia said it expects to continue along the path of its strong growth trend with plans to invest in the local market.

Last year, it signaled a $25 million investment into establishing a new office within the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus, creating about 110 jobs in the area.

NEC states it is on target to exceed expectations in its financial year for 2015, spotting customer opportunities in areas such as big data, Software Defined Networking (SDN) and public safety solutions including biometric security.

In 2014, NEC embarked on the first phase of internally transforming its business, which resulted in one of its strongest performing year’s in the company’s 45-year history in the Australian market. Some of its major contract wins included Department of Defence, Northern Territory Government and South Australia Police.

“We’ve achieved successes that few companies can fairly say they’ve matched in the time we’ve done it in, from merging core operations and services across two formerly separate organisations to achieving landmark deals that set the stage for NEC Australia’s future as Australia’s leading IT services and solutions firm,” NEC Australia managing director, Tetsuro Akagi, said.

NEC Australia capabilities stretch beyond telecommunications to include supporting core ICT infrastructure to designing and deploying public safety systems. Recent examples include the South Australian Police’s Android-based mobile fingerprint solution, combining Liverpool City Council’s CCTV and free public wi-fi network in NSW.
