Elastica names new VP and CFO

Former Qualys VP to lead worldwide field operations

Cloud security firm Elastica has appointed John Wilson as vice president of worldwide field operations and Kevin Thompson as chief financial officer.

Wilson was previously executive vice president of worldwide sales and field operations at Qualys, where he helped grow the company from an early stage startup to a public company.

In his new role at Elastica, he will be responsible for driving worldwide sales, support and services.

He is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and a Gulf War veteran.

Wilson said awareness of the Cloud Access Security Brokers market was growing.

"I'm excited to be joining Elastica at a point when companies are, more than ever, depending on cloud access security solutions to enable increased cloud collaboration and productivity."

Thompson has experience as chief financial officer for numerous startups and enterprise software companies within Silicon Valley such as Vitria Technology, WiChorus and Entrisphere.

Prior to joining Elastica, Thompson was chief financial officer of HEAT Software (formerly FrontRange), where he was responsible for overseeing the company's overall finance, accounting, legal, tax, HR and IT functions.

At Elastica, Thompson will be leading initiatives to rapidly scale the company, while continuing the momentum with customer and partner activities.

Thompson said enterprises wanted to gain the cost and productivity benefits of cloud applications, but were struggling to secure the data that's stored and shared within them.

"I chose to join Elastica because the company's fundamentally unique approach to security allows its impressive roster of enterprise customers to confidently utilise cloud applications."
