New Fortinet secure wi-fi access points certified for A/NZ

Fortinet’s new FortiAP-S series of Cloud-based wireless LAN access points have been certified for deployment in the A/NZ region.

The security vendor said the new access points have firewalls built in, while Cloud management will make it easier for service providers and security teams to manage assets.

Fortinet claims the newly certified APs provide A/NZ organisations with a cost-effective, easy-to-manage and secure option for deploying secure Wi-Fi without compromising security when opting to manage enterprise WLAN from the Cloud.

The focus will be on SMBs, said Fortinet director of engineering and services A/NZ, Gary Gardiner.

“Now smaller businesses, like retail, branch offices, decentralised government facilities and others, can deploy secure wi-fi to their staff and casual users with confidence,” said Gardiner.

“And for larger organisations, the scalability of Cloud management makes the solution cost-effective for distributed enterprises that may have dozens (or hundreds) of sites.”

The FortiAP-S series' access points will also use FortiGuard security to form a secure wireless architecture for enterprise networks. Security teams can then manage everything from a browser-based Cloud portal.

“You can apply mobile-specific security policies and updates such as application control and virus scanning directly to the FortiAP-S to give an extra layer of perimeter defence for BYOD devices.”
