Raytheon|Websense rebrands as Forcepoint

Raytheon|Websense is no more. The company has changed its name to Forcepoint and released a swathe of new offerings for the security market.

Forcepoint chief executive, John McCormack, said the goal of the rebranded company was to simplify compliance, enable better decision-making and streamline security so that customers can concentrate on what’s important to them.

“We will provide a unified Cloud-centric platform to defend against attacks, detect suspicious activity sooner, and give the context needed to decide what actions to take to defeat the attack and stop data theft,” he added.

“Defend, detect, decide, defeat – this is our vision for Forcepoint 4D Security. We have the expertise, financial commitment and ongoing access to unique, defence-grade security technology necessary to deliver on this vision.”

As part of the company debut, Forcepoint is launching three new products to address insider threats, Cloud-based protection of Microsoft Office 365 and network security.

The SureView Insider Threat 8.0 offering is said to act as an early warning system for automatically identifying the riskiest users within an organisation based on behaviours as well as on information received from TRITON AP-DATA, the company’s data loss prevention (DLP) product.

Forcepoint has also launched its TRITON platform, natively hosted in Microsoft Azure. The company said its TRITON security solutions enforce consistent policy across Cloud, on premises and at endpoints, providing a unified, hybrid defence for distributed, highly-mobile organisations.

In addition, the result of a recent company acquisition of firewall vendor, Stonesoft, Forcepoint’s Stonesoft firewall is a solution designed for organisations with a large mobile workforce. It features Common Criteria certification and is said to provide consistent visibility, responsiveness and policy enforcement across different locations with a single management console.

The company also said it has finalised the acquisition of the Stonesoft next-generation firewall and Sidewinder proxy firewall technologies and teams from Intel Security in January 2016. The company said these technologies would expand the Cloud and hybrid capabilities of its security platform. Specific terms of the deal or details of the transactions were not disclosed.
