How Westcon-Comstor is reimagining the Aussie channel

As new technologies and transformation shakes the status quo in Australia, and the channel reacts accordingly, a new distribution play is forming.

Set to be outlined during Westcon-Comstor Imagine 2016, in Sydney and Melbourne this month, distributors are now offering channel partners an expanding range of services, to better serve the changing business demands impacting the market.

“While the fundamentals of our business haven’t changed, our core strategy in Australia is twofold,” Westcon-Comstor vice president of Australia and New Zealand, Dave Rosenberg, said.

“Firstly, we are investing in our people, tools and systems to deepen our vendor and partner experiences, ensuring we are supporting the channel in ways that reflect the rapidly changing dynamics of the market.

“Secondly, we are also investing in increasing capabilities around our complimentary services and cloud. These capabilities have the partner at the centre of delivery, continuing our commitment to the channel. The services encompass everything from support, professional, financial, education through to supply chain services.

“With both, our goal is to ensure we enable our vendors and partners to deliver the best outcome to the local market in Australia.”

Across two half-day events in Sydney and Melbourne - on May 19 and May 24 respectively - Rosenberg will uncover the latest in IT best practice and innovation, with global CEO Dolph Westerbos arriving Down Under to keynote in Sydney.

“The theme is delivering results together, and as the industry changes at a rapid rate of knots, IT is commoditising, becoming more accessible and cost effective to purchase,” Rosenberg said.

“But the way businesses are using IT is becoming a lot more complex and with that, one overriding consistency in the local channel remains; the importance of partnerships.”

For Rosenberg, collaboration across the channel is key for partners to capitalise on the rise of digitalisation in enterprise, as the need to take advantage of the multitude of local opportunities heightens.

“The expectation of the channel is for distributors to provide value through a new range of services, and as new technologies disrupt the market, we are well placed to enable our partners to extract value,” Rosenberg said.

“Imagine 2016 is about bringing together vendors, resellers, integrators and end-users to deepen the levels of partnership in the Australian market.”

Featuring a series of visionary presentations, thought provoking international keynote speakers and innovative panel discussions, Rosenberg said Imagine 2016 will engage a “diverse range of technology centric vendors” to ensure Australian partners receive a hands on experience with new and innovative technologies.

In addition, industry thought leaders will also be available to offer advice on business challenges impacting Australasian organisations, offering insight into the technology solutions capable of solving such challenges.

“We made a shift in investment and capabilities around two / three years ago and through leveraging our global distribution model, we are well positioned to help the channel negotiate this change,” Rosenberg added.
