Fujitsu and Multimedia Technology expand Aussie partnership

MMT will now carry the Fujitsu range including servers, storage, notebooks, tablets, desktops, workstation, monitors, thin client and scanners

Fujitsu has inked a new contract with Multimedia Technology (MMT), for the latter to distribute the vendor’s scanners in Australia.

Both companies have a long-standing partnership that was inked in 2006, with MMT initially contracted to distribute server and client computing products.

As a result of this expanded partnership, MMT will now carry the Fujitsu range including servers, storage, notebooks, tablets, desktops, workstation, monitors, thin client and scanners.

In distributing the complete range of Fujitsu products in Australia, MMT will also bring to market some of Fujitsu’s latest additions, including the light-weight mobile Lifebook U937, folding convertible Lifebook P727, and detachable Stylistic Q507.

“We recognise the value proposition of Fujitsu’s products and the comprehensive onsite service network that differentiates the brand. We look forward to resuming our relationship with the brand and representing its unique value proposition with our reseller channel,” MMT purchasing manager, Mark Eichler, said.

According to Fujitsu Australia products national sales manager, Bert Noah, the renewed partnership further enhances the channel for its range of products in Australia.

“We look forward to a renewed relationship with MMT. It brings a history of experience with Fujitsu products to our channel, which will provide our customers with a greater choice and allow us to improve our positioning in a number of niche markets,” he said.

In October last year, ARN reported that Lenovo edged closer to taking full control of Fujitsu’s ailing PC business, with both parties committing to cooperating at a global level.

Terms of the partnership allowed both vendors to work together across research, development, design and manufacturing of PCs for the global market.

“Through the cooperation, the two companies aim to create a successful model that leverages Fujitsu’s global sales, customer support, R&D and manufacturing capabilities together with Lenovo’s operational excellence to improve competitiveness in the dynamic global PC market,” a joint company statement said.

Fujitsu Australia also recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Government of Victoria to become the "anchor tenant" in the development of a new technology Precinct in Morwell, Victoria.

The company was also appointed as principal ICT support partner to TAFE Queensland, marking the partnership with a $60 million contract.
