Oracle partner, PrimeQ, has been selected to implement a fully integrated end-to-end Oracle Cloud solution to Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group (LSSG).

LSSG, which claims to be the second oldest family owned business in Australia, was born out of the union of Lionel Samson & Son, founded in 1829, and R. C. Sadleir, founded in 1895.

As part of the group is their transportation business Sadleirs, which employs 370 people and operates a supply chain business that includes rail, road, sea and air freight delivery, a global forwarding and customs services division, industrial packaging supplies and warehousing. As part of the group is also wine maker, Plantagenet Wines.

LSSG decided to move to the Oracle Cloud as it prepares to expand its business in Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.

“Sadleirs’ growth strategy involves doubling the business in a relatively short period of time with our existing personnel,” Sadleirs chief executive officer, Ian Kent, said. “To achieve this, we need to transform our current IT infrastructure.

“We have many disparate legacy systems in the business and historically this has restricted our ability to grow. We are now seeking to streamline and enhance our customer experience and have engaged PrimeQ to provide a ‘best in breed’ Oracle solution,” Kent said.

Under the deal, PrimeQ will implement a fully integrated end-to-end Oracle Cloud solution incorporating Oracle Customer Experience (CX), Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS), Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and Oracle Cloud Business Intelligence.

PrimeQ claims that this tech line-up means Sadliers will be the first Australian transportation company to implement a fully integrated end-to-end Oracle Cloud solution.

“The logistics industry in Australia is typically characterised by older information technology,” PrimeQ CEO, Andrew McAdams, said.

“By replacing its legacy system with a cloud-based solution, Sadleirs will benefit from lower capital costs and rapid implementation times as well as greater delivery efficiencies.

The system is expected to go live in May 2018.

PrimeQ was established in 2015 and employs 100 people across its offices in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Wellington.

In early November, the company was awarded a long-term deal with Victorian public transportation firm, Dyson Group.

The fiver-year contract will allow Dyson to reduce manual data entries and automate administrative processes to create productivity gains.
