Phoneware targets ISP sector

Net services provider Phoneware Online, has extended its ISP/ASP coverage, following the $1.8 million acquisition of Australian ISP Blue Planet.

Phoneware will take over Blue Planet's significant subscribers in the residential and small-to-medium enterprise (SME) markets as well as its infrastructure. This is expected to add considerable efficiencies and industry advanced billing facilities to Phoneware Online's existing operation.

"The acquisition is expected to inject revenues of at least $95,000 per month, with net profits of $480,000 per annum," said Jenny Stilwell, Phoneware managing director. "The acquisition also gives Phoneware Online access to Blue Planet's extensive dealer network to further expand our ISP subscriber base. As a result of this acquisition, we expect to increase our customer base by at least 300 per cent before the end of the financial year."

"Blue Planet will bring efficiencies to Phoneware Online that will enable us to significantly increase our user base and income per customer, whilst allowing us to manage our costs through automation," said Paul Dundas, general manager of Phoneware Online.

This deal follows the recent acquisition of ISP Lexicon, as well as the telco CTI, by US-based parent company Phoneware Ltd. As a result, Phoneware Online will expand its server farming capabilities and co-location facilities for ASP and Web hosting, and implement carrier-class hosting across both locations.

The billing platform will enable Phoneware Online to build an infrastructure that will allow easy deployment of new services and options for its users.

The billing solution manages real-time operations support system (OSS) solutions for IP billing, services administration and customer care, giving Phoneware Online a seamless path to the provision and billing of a convergent offering of Internet, WAP, voice and video applications and content.

"In today's fast-paced IP environment, the continual integration of new services and business models into our existing business is critical for maintaining a competitive edge. The acquisition of Blue Planet enables us to offer our customers unlimited value-added services while empowering us to easily manage the range of necessary services, including registration and activation, authentication, authorisation, provisioning, rating, billing and customer care," said Dundas.
