ARN's Community Manager, Hafizah Osman, has disappeared under a flood of community picture stories and reports of company events, so we thought what better to do than put them all in a slideshow summing up the week in the channel. This week features: CA Technologies, Channel Dynamics, Data#3, Plantronics, Samsung Communications,Toshiba, Avaya, and Deloitte. Are you pictured?

  • Data#3 will provide network infrastructure to the new Fiona Stanley Hospital in Western Australia. Data#3 was selected as the sole supplier for Cisco network infrastructure and services for the hospital complex. The equipment provided will be used for end-to-end network connectivity across the entire facility, supporting the provision of data, voice, video and wireless services.   • Toshiba recently sponsored the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation Ladies Lunch, which was held at the Doltone House. The event was held in support of women who are battling breast cancer and to raise funds for clinical research to fight the disease. Toshiba also makes medical equipment, as well as donated IT equipment - such as camcorders and laptops for the silent auction and raffle draw.

  • ABC’s political writer, Annabel Crabb, was the MC of the event, while Kaftan queen, Camilla Franks, showcased some from her latest collection in a fashion show – which also features some real sailors.

  • Guests enjoyed a wonderful lunch over two inspiring speakers, who told their breast cancer stories, and entertainment, all whilst supporting the cause.

  • A 21-man team from CA Technologies and Channel Dynamic’s Moheb Moses recently did their bit to support Australians affected by multiple sclerosis by joining the 2012 MS “Sydney to the Gong” Bike Ride. In this photo: Channel Dynamics' Moheb Moses

  • More than 10,000 people participated in the ride, which was 90km long – from Sydney to Wollongong.The event drew in a team of cycling enthusiasts, who rode through the scenic Royal National Park, over the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge and along Grand Pacific Drive into Wollongong.   • The ride raised more than $3 million for Australians living with multiple sclerosis, of which $2,765 was raised by the CA Technologies team and $2,675 by Moses. In this photo: The CA team

  • Both Channel Dynamics and CA Technologies were placed in the top 100 fundraisers.

  • Plantronics recently participated with a team of ten in The Ride to Conquer Cancer in Melbourne – a 200km ride over two days. Some of Plantronics’ business partners and friends also joined them in the ride. In this photo: Some of the Plantronics team members

  • This year, there was a total of 1609 riders who collectively generated more than $6.2 million, of which the Plantronics team raised about $31,000.

  • The Ride to Conquer Cancer in Melbourne raises money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, which is the only public hospital in Australia solely dedicated to cancer.

  • The route began in Melbourne winding out of the city and urban areas, through the Yarra Valley and ending in Healsville. The teams camped out in Healsville and then returned to Melbourne the next day.

  • Avaya recently held its inaugural 2012 Avaya League SME sales recognition program in Vietnam.

  • A group of 90 delegates from the Avaya A/NZ SME partner community were invited to attend a three day experience of a lifetime in Danang, Vietnam.

  • The highlight was a visit to a local orphanage. The team built 10 bicycles from scratch as part of a team building exercise, as well as donated toys and clothes to almost 100 orphans.

  • Samsung Communications recently took a delegation of 95 channel partners and strategic Partners to Queenstown, New Zealand for its annual partner conference. The annual partner conference has been a regular part of its channel program since 1996. Partners that attended include: Samsung ElectronicsVidyo, M2 Commander, Broadsoft, Plantronics, Telikom PNG, AAPT and Samsung Communication Centres.   • The four day event covered market and business review topics led by Samsung managing director, Brett McInnes, and principal and founder, Stephen Plant, as well as a channel briefing on the Samsung Wireless Enterprise solution due to be launched in 2013. At the event, founding channel partners were also recognised for their contributions in building the business. As a token of appreciation, each partner was given a bottle of 1996 Penfold’s Grange.   • Reducing costs for fashion retailers and delighting their customers through applied nanotechnology was the winning business idea a Macquarie University undergraduate team pitched to win the Deloitte 2012 NSW Fastrack Innovation Challenge. This is the second time in a row that Macquarie has won the prize – worth $5000. The Fastrack program provides students with an opportunity to learn how innovation works in a corporate environment. It integrates work and study over an intensive semester and engages more than 100 Deloitte volunteers to help mentor and coach the students. The presentations to the judging panel were the culmination of weeks and months of coaching by Deloitte and University volunteer mentors, who assisted the students ideate, research, prototype and build a business case for a potential $50 million business.
