Data#3 recently raised $15,000 for The Smith Family at its recent Queensland Charity Golf Day, where more than 100 of its customers, vendor partners and staff enjoyed a round of golf at Brisbane’s Indooroopilly Golf Course. The official cheque was presented to The Smith Family at the Data#3 head office, where Data#3 and The Smith Family staff took the opportunity to celebrate the donation and the successful fundraising event. Data#3 is currently building a national strategic partnership with The Smith Family, focusing on supporting their Learning for Life Program. Its involvement in the Learning for Life Program enables more opportunity for young people to further their education utilising IT.

Sage Business Solutions has announced the winners of its 2012 A/NZ Business Partner Awards at a gala dinner as part of the Sage Insights Conference held in Wellington, New Zealand. MicroChannel Services was awarded Sage 2012 Partner of the Year, while Enabling, ACT Today, Citysoft Consulting and Accys Consulting took home top awards for accomplishing a variety of achievements including, highest revenue growth, customer satisfaction and customer renewals, during the course of the past 12 months. All five companies will participate in the Sage Presidents Club trip to Hong Kong in February 2013.

A10 Networks recently hosted its second annual Asia-Pacific APEX partner symposium, which took place in Taipei, Taiwan. The main theme for the symposium was Cloud Computing, whereby A10’s CEO, Lee Chen, key corporate executives and special guests delivered presentations on Cloud networking requirements and solutions. During the conference, Chen unveiled A10’s new flagship AX 5630 Application Delivery Controller (ADC) and took the opportunity to announce its record growth in the region to over 250 partners and customers from over 15 countries. ‘Big thinking’ was the theme of M. Tech’s recent security conference, held in Darling Park, Sydney. The event was targeted at the end user market, focusing on CIO, CTO, CSO, CFO, decision-makers from sectors including IT, banking, finance and government. The event drew in 40 delegates.

At the conference, seven presenters warned of the need for perpetual vigilance in protecting solutions, networks and data. Keynote speaker and Imperva worldwide sales senior vice-president, Ralph Pisani, discussed the issue of security within BYOD and consumerisation of IT, while Websense senior sales engineer, Dung Hua, cautioned that a single breach can change a company’s future. Other presentations were delivered by: Riverbed’s Nathan Godsall; Tufin’s Lawrence Loh; SolarWinds’ Anthony Mahoney; Dimension Data’s Jason Ha; and BT’s Rick Choo.

Shadow minister for communications and broadband, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, presented the 13th annual Consensus Software Awards in Sydney. The awards were supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Australian Computer Society (ACS), TiE, Wholesale Investor, Brooklyn Institute, Australian Consensus Technology Association (ACTA) and Cliftons. There were 10 Finalists in attendance from across A/NZ. Four Awards were presented followed by four highly commended certificates. Winners included: astutepayroll.com, Sentient PPM, Tencia and TestPro Automation Framework (TAF PRO). Highly commended were Ahha, Ausenco Rylson8, ClearCost and Billing and Provisioning System.

ShoreTel recently announced a new distribution agreement with ViViD Systems, a specialist distributor of voice, video and data solutions, and business unit of Distribution Central. To celebrate the announcement, more than 40 partners joined ShoreTel and ViViD Systems at The Argyle in Sydney to hear from ShoreTel ANZ Managing Director, Jamie Romainin and ViViD Systems Asia-Pacific general manager, Andrew Assad.

According to ShoreTel, the agreement extends its market reach in Australia, and offers ViViD Systems partners greater choice when it comes to offering business communications solutions to their customers. ShoreTel Australasia regional director, Jamie Romanin, said ViViD Systems’ strong reseller and technical skills base and Distribution Central’s similar rate of growth to ShoreTel were reasons behind the selection.

Equinix was awarded the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Australia datacentre services provider of the year award at the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Australia Excellence Awards ceremony held in Sydney. It is the second time that the global data centre services provider has received the accolade. Accepting the award, Equinix Australia managing director, Tony Simonsen, said the recognition shows it are continuing to raise the bar and ensure that it is consistently innovating and providing the best service for its customers. The award comes just as the company officially opened phase two of its third Sydney facility, a project that launched six months ahead of schedule to meet the growing demand from customers.

WhiteGold was titled A/NZ distributor of the year 2012 at Fortinet's recent Global Partner Conference, in Miami. Fortinet hosted its conference in a cruise, which went around the Bahamas to Nassau, Coco Cay and Key West from Miami. WhiteGold received the award on the last evening on the boat, during the awards ceremony. Siemens PLM Software has received top honours at the inaugural Asian Manufacturing Awards 2012, winning two coveted awards – “Best PLM Systems Provider” and “Best Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAM) Systems Provider”, held in Singapore. According to the company, it got the awards for its unparalleled product lifecycle management (PLM) leadership throughout Asia and its broad portfolio of solutions that help its customers make smarter decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
