ARN's Community Manager, Hafizah Osman, has disappeared under a flood of community picture stories and reports of company events, so we thought what better to do than put them all in a slideshow summing up the week in the channel. This week features company awards and partner events amongst others. Are you pictured in the first channel round-up for the year?

  • Jabra A/NZ recently hosted Christmas dinner and drinks in mid-December to thank its channel partners and celebrate its successes in 2012.

  • More than 70 of its vendor and reseller partners congregated at The Star Casino in Sydney to enjoy dinner and drinks and to toast a profitable new year.

  • During the party, Jabra A/NZ managing director, Fulvio Toniotti, took the opportunity to thank the partners for their support throughout the year and talk about Jabra’s road map for 2013, including the launch of new products at the partner conference in Macau in the first quarter of the year.

  • The event was very well attended – partners present included Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft, Dimension Data, 247 Distribution and Audiocodes.

  • Lan 1 recently hosted its ninth annual WA channel partner business luncheon, which took place on the banks of the Swan River at The Old Brewery in Perth.

  • The main theme for the event was accelerate business growth, whereby Lan 1’s managing director, Daniel Lee, and special guest, Electronics and Communications Group at Hills Holdings CEO, Steve Cope, delivered presentations on new opportunities available to WA channel partners – opportunities geared to generate revenue and accelerate business growth.   • Lan 1 also presented the Lan 1 channel partnership awards during the luncheon, with Mine Site Technologies, Epic Cinema and Sound, Minetec Communications, AVI, Zenien and ITMA earning themselves recognition for their outstanding commitment to Lan 1 throughout 2012.   • Avnet recently hosted its end-of-year business partner event at the Sydney Harbour, where more than 200 vendor and reseller partners joined the Avnet team on a cruise.

  • The fine weather allowed attendees to mingle on the ship’s open air top floor.

  • Avnet also took the opportunity that evening to hand out a number of awards to its top partners of the year.

  • Fujitsu Australia was named business partner of the year 2012, ISW was awarded solutions partner of the year 2012 and Vizstone nabbed the rising star award for the year.

  • Emergency AUS was awarded the Mobile Monday "Gold MoMo" App of 2012 at the 2012 MoMo mobile industry and awards night in Melbourne. Emergency AUS, a mobile app developed in partnership by Gridstone and RIPE Intel, won in the category of AWS Cloud Warrior Award for Outstanding Business Value and was also recognised in the 2012 Amazon Web Services (AWS) Technical Innovator Awards category.   • By bringing together national emergency information from over 20 official sources and accessing observations submitted by the public, Emergency AUS delivers Australian emergency intelligence to residents, tourists and visitors. It delivers users real-time access to official warnings, incident reports and user-submitted Sensory Observations to aid in better decision-making during emergencies and disasters.   • CA Technologies recently participated in a community affairs initiative, enabling 24 children from Ambarvale Public School with the chance to meet face-to-face with their pen pals of nine months at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo. The program, in collaboration with the Daystar foundation – Literacy Buddies – is an initiative embarked upon every year by CA Technologies. This was the fourth year the company has participated in the program.

  • The aim of the program is to improve literacy, help with long-term mentoring and provide interaction with positive adult role models for children in underprivileged areas. As part of the program, children write letters to their ‘buddy’ at CA Technologies and vice versa, all of which is conducted within class as part of their curriculum.

  • Allied Telesis celebrated its performance last year with end-of-year events in Melbourne and Sydney for select channel partners and end users.

  • The team in Melbourne celebrated with an afternoon of drinks and barefoot bowls at City West Bowling Club where those that attended were able to network with others in the industry.

  • In Sydney, the evening was spent sampling an array of different craft beers and food at the Red Oak Boutique Beer Café. During the events, Allied Telesis staff also discussed plans for 2013 – including the launch of the Allied Telesis Partner Program and a number of niche partner activities that are likely to be held across the region from locations in New Zealand through to Thailand.
