IN PICTURES: Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2016 part 3 (+36 photos)

Mobile World Congress is the place to be for all the new tech releases and announcements, but it is also interesting to see how each vendor will position itself for the coming year. Some of the booths are truly impressive so we took a walk around the show floor to see who had the most impressive booths and displays.   • Networking in the Blackberry garden area

  • IBM wins the prize for worst buzzword at the event

  • With a brand new phone, VR glasses and other weird and wonderful toys, the LG booth was packed for much of the confrence.

  • VMware used the conference to talk about its mobility solutions portfolio

  • Sony's new Xperia smartphone range, the intriguing Xperia Ear and a swathe of prototypes made it one of the most visited consumer stands of the event.

  • Microsoft was all about Windows 10 across multiple platforms, IoT and OEM.

  • SAP used MWC to showcase what can be done on its HANA Cloud Platform

  • NEC showcased its IoT, Cloud and network infrastructure technologies.

  • Lenovo's tag line didn't make much sense either.

  • Open source OS provider, Ubuntu, was all about continuity of platform accross PC, phones, tablets and Cloud

  • Spanish companies had their own section to showcase different innovations coming out of the country

  • Lexibook had some cool and quirky accessories on offer

  • With now phone releases for Australia (and chatter the company was pulling out of the A/NZ market all together) the HTC booth was a bit underwhelming

  • Vodafone had a big focus on 5G and education. It was interesting to see where the company is at i Europe as opposed to A/NZ

  • Visa was all about mobile payments and ecommerce

  • Alcatel had some great new phones and tablets on display, along with some cool smartwatches.

  • With eight halls spread over a vast sway of land, the interactive maps were essential for many attendees.

  • Opera's booth drew big crowds interested in the upcoming VPN integration to the platform and the free hangover kits.

  • Smart Cities was a big focus for Fujitsu at its booth

  • ESET was unsuprisingly all about mobile security

  • HP wanted attendees to keep reinventing. Exactly what we were not sure.

  • Kaspersky was warning about digital pickpockets and the ways to keep them at bay

  • Mastercard's message was all about mobile payments, seamless shopping and connected travel

  • Ruckus pushed its familiar message about mobile tracking for heat maps and data analytics.

  • HPE was focussed on network function virtualisation and how some of its partners were utilising the technology.

  • F5 concentrated on network optimisation for the mobile workforce. monetisation and security

  • F-Secure introduced its Sense box at the event, targeted at the smart home and securing all devices on a home network through this one clever little box

  • Panasonic showcased its new Toughbooks and rugged tablets

  • Hitachi was all about the IoT that matter for business and the home

  • Accenture had an aviation theme but we couldn't get anyone to explain what this meant

  • Acer had some impressive new gaming tablets, laptops and desktops on display

  • Remember RealPlayer? they are still kicking around

  • We were surprised to find Google tucked away at the back of the show but the coloured pipes looked cool and more than a few fount their way over.
