IN PICTURES: Distribution Central over the years - a tribute (+70 photos)
The Distribution Central history goes back to when it was founded in 1992 as Firewall Systems, an IT security services provider. The company was acquired by Scott Frew and Nick Verykios in 2004, with Frew founding LAN Systems - now Westcon-Comstor - and both founding 1World Systems and Micro Networks. This slideshow pays tribute to DC over the years, its co-founders, and the people that have graced both it and Frew and Verykios' associated companies. So here's some some DC party meltdowns plus plenty of history.

Splunk Live! 2015 recently hosted its event in Sydney, where not only Splunk and its partners took to stage to talk about the latest trends in technology, but also showcased their latest technologies. Some of the vendors seen included Palo Alto, Amazon Web Services, Netapp, Nimble Storage, and dynatrace. It was a full house, as this pictorial shows.

Speakers for the event included former Olympian, Libby Trickett; Member of the A/NZ Amazon Leadership Team, Ashlee McCusker; Sharmilla Tsourdalakis CIO from GPT Group; and Danielle Fletcher from PropellHer.

IN PICTURES: Whose knees are these? (Aka: Whose sporran is that?) - 23 photos
The 2014 Awards carried a Scottish lilt with its brave hearts theme and some of the ICT industry's braver - or prouder - gentlemen decided that this was the time to wear/air a kilt and ceremonial garb. Editorial director, MIKE GEE, made it his business to capture as many of the kilts on display as he could - from the waist down, and then the waist up. Much to his surprise there were a lot of bashful men out there! Och aye! Many a knee was covered. He also found he attracted a few strange glances when squatting close to the ground to shoot a lower torso. However, the idea bore dirk! Here are the men in kilts - and many thanks to them and those Mike didn't capture for making the effort to get in the mood.

Amazon Web Services' (AWS) Summit took place at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion and Royal Hall of Industries. Amazon.com vice-president and CTO, Werner Vogels, opened the event with insight into the company and its place in the global market, and moved to speak on reasons customers move to Cloud. The Summit also features a showroom with displays from partners.

Partners were able to display their products and services at dedicated booths, as well as meet with existing and potential partners and clients. Some of the companies on the show floor included SAP, NetApp, RedHat, Trend Micro and many others.

Highlights from the keynote included the announcement of new products such as CloudTrail, WorkSpaces and AppStream. During the keynote, customers such as Suncorp, Dow Jones, Tradeworx, and Atomic Fiction.
