The 2014 Awards carried a Scottish lilt with its brave hearts theme and some of the ICT industry's braver - or prouder - gentlemen decided that this was the time to wear/air a kilt and ceremonial garb. Editorial director, MIKE GEE, made it his business to capture as many of the kilts on display as he could - from the waist down, and then the waist up. Much to his surprise there were a lot of bashful men out there! Och aye! Many a knee was covered. He also found he attracted a few strange glances when squatting close to the ground to shoot a lower torso. However, the idea bore dirk! Here are the men in kilts - and many thanks to them and those Mike didn't capture for making the effort to get in the mood.

McAfee gives top APAC partner award to Dimension Data
Dimension Data has come away from McAfee’s 2013 Channel Partners Awards as both the security vendor’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) ‘Overall Partner of the Year’. McAfee, part of Intel Security, hosted the gala event as part of its partner conference in Bali, Indonesia, from May 28 to 30. The winners of the 25 categories were selected based on performance, results, and partnerships which demonstrated growth. Other A/NZ winners included Manage Protect (SMB Partner of the Year), Loop Technology (Commercial Partner of the year), Content Security (Growth Partner of the Year), and Ingram Micro (Distributor of the Year).

The first ARN Security Breakfast at The Mint was a lively affair with an outstanding panel debate hosted by ARN's Rimin Dutt and featuring Klasie Holtzhausen (Symantec), Glenn Welby (Cisco), Crispin Kerr (Webroot), James Turner (IBRS), and Craig Nielsen (McAfee). Discussion roamed far and wide and included a detailed look at the impact of forthcoming major changes to the privacy laws, the BYOD effect, and the single undeniable truth that every business needs to seriously look at its security and how it can be improved. It's a simple reality that your business could be next to be hacked. Opportunities for the channel were also delivered by the panel to the dozens of resellers who attended. The Security Breakfast was sponsored by Cisco, McAfee, Symantec and Webroot.

McAfee's Focus 12 Security Conference kicked off in Las Vegas, bringing together attendees from all around the world. McAfee co-president, Michael DeCesare, joined actress and activist, Eva Longoria, on-stage to deliver the opening keynote. DeCesare spoke about the current security landscape and how McAfee and Intel are working together to tackle emerging trends and challenges in the security industry while Longoria discussed her experience with the Eva Longoria Foundation. Partners also took up the opportunity to showcase their latest technologies at the expo.
