    Following its success in 2016, NEXTGEN held its annual Summer Party on Bennelong Lawn in the Sydney Botanical Gardens, amidst a backdrop of Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge views. With a touch of tangerine dress code, the specialist distributor hosted Actifio, Commvault, Nimble Storage, Oracle, SAP and SolarWinds, alongside key reseller partners across the channel.     Over 80 partners hit the Sheraton Noosa for the HDS annual A/NZ partner summit. Attendees heard presentations from HDS on its partner strategy for the coming year and alliance partners SAP, VMware and Veritas.     The fifth stop on this year’s seven part road show saw the Young ICT Explorers hit Townsville for the first regional stop of the tour, 34 students from eight schools entered 19 projects.     The SAP Young ICT Explorers event in Sydney showcased the remarkable ingenuity of NSW students in their approach to technology. Winners were awarded in five categories: years 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Prizes for first, second and third were given along with merit awards. Presentations were made by SAP A/NZ vice president and general manager of global partner operations, Greg Miller, Digital Careers national program director, Karsten Schulz and NSW MP for the district of Sydney, Alex Greenwich.

    Students from years three to 12 spent months working on their projects for the NSW leg of the SAP Young ICT Explorers competition 2015. From fully fledged games to help nine-year-olds with long division, to garbage cleaning robots and freshness monitors for sushi, the kids leveraged technology in innovative and exciting ways. The future is indeed bright for the ICT industry.
