Ingram adds Oracle to solutions stack

Distributor leverages global relationship to gain local access to database products

Ingram Micro has added credibility to its solutions portfolio with the announcement of database powerhouse, Oracle, as its latest vendor partner.

News of the partnership coincides with the arrival of Oracle's Remarketer Program, which will see Standard Edition components of its technology portfolio made available to resellers without the need for onerous up-front financial investments.

General manager of Ingram's Solutions Group, Stuart Ellis, said the distributor had leveraged its global relationship with Oracle to get local access. He highlighted the importance of its Remarketer Program in opening up reseller opportunities.

"That was a huge hurdle to overcome and the Remarketer Program was really the basis of our initial conversations. Oracle is trying to make it easier to engage their technology," he said.

Given that Oracle was a complicated sell, Ellis said Ingram had spent a lot of time improving internal skill levels within its software licensing team.

"Oracle is a key agency and a really complementary portfolio to leverage within our solutions business," he said. "We are interested in working with Oracle development partners that might take us into vertical markets and will also have more momentum from an ISV perspective."

Oracle is also distributed in Australia by itX.
