PRODUCTS: WatchGuard offers next-generation firewall

XTM 2050 designed to meet the changing needs and requirements of enterprise environments

Security vendor, WatchGuard, recently revealed its next generation security appliance – the WatchGuard XTM 2050.

The product is aimed at large companies and datacentres that need high-performance firewalls, application control and intrusion prevention system (IPS) that prevent data theft, security breaches and malware.

WatchGuard Technologies regional director A/NZ, Scott Robertson, said the company designed the solution to meet the changing needs and requirements of enterprise environments.

“With this firewall, businesses can define, enforce and audit strong security and acceptable use policies, which results in increased employee productivity and optimised protection of critical network resources, applications and data,” he said.

Its application control capabilities allow administrators to control more than 1800 applications and know which applications are being used and by whom.

Administrators can enforce acceptable use policies for users and groups by category, application, and application sub-functions.

The IPS application protects against network threats by scanning traffic on all major protocols, using continually updated signatures to detect and block all types of threats.

The XTM 2050 also supports multi-gigabit packet filtering, provides application control, links offices via drag-and-drop VPN, connects people via SSL and IPSec VPN and allows unparalleled visibility into real-time and historical user, network, and security activities.

All of WatchGuard next generation firewall bundles include a tiered protection plan, LiveSecurity Plus.

Prices for the WatchGuard XTM 2050 next-generation firewall starts at $40,999 excluding GST and will be available locally from company certified partners in June.
