PRODUCTS: Eaton announces new-generation Ellipse ECO UPS

Claims it produces energy savings of up to 25 per cent compared to previous-generation products

Eaton Corporation's Ellipse ECO provides compact power protection for business-related electronic equipments including PCs, workstations, telephony equipment and point-of-sale terminals.

The recently launched latest version includes an EcoControl function 'for UPS' with USB connectivity.

Not only does it save more energy by automatically disabling peripherals when the master device is turned off but it also activates and configures via the included power management software.

The UPS is prepared with a master outlet for a desktop PC and either one or two EcoControl outlets for non-critical peripherals.

The diversified power management company's Asia-Pacific electrical sector product line manager, Michael Mallia, said, “With the new, improved model and its EcoControl function, we can now offer substantial energy savings of up to 25 per cent.”

The product features standard off-line topology and defends office applications from the most common power interruptions, such as power failure, sags and surges.

“Customers expect two things from a UPS: battery backup and power protection. In addition to backup, the Ellipse ECO provides protection against atmospheric or industrial damaging surges,” Mallia said.

Its features also include: an extra-flat design and a wide range of mounting options, five power rating availability and compatibility with all common personal computer operating systems – including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

The Eaton Ellipse ECO will replace the Ellipse ASR from June. Prices start from $160 including GST.
