QlikView shares business intelligence with iPad

Support for live data and analytics spread to Apple’s tablet device

To allow users to access live data and analytics anytime and anywhere, business intelligence (BI) vendor, QlikTech, has expanded its QlikView software to support Apple's iPad platform.

As with the existing range of QlikView products, QlikView for iPad provides users with access to real-time analytics.

“QlikView for iPad is fundamentally the same QlikView we see everywhere else, and that’s a conscious approach we have taken in terms of our strategy for mobile BIs,” QlikTech Australia & New Zealand regional director, Mark Sands, said.

“We’ve taken the user experience that one expects from an iPad and ensured that the same power, flexibility and capabilities that a QlikView user experiences on a desktop PC are available when they are mobile in the office or on the field.”

In addition to the iPad’s user friendly interface, the high penetration of iPads in the workforce is what convinced QlikTech to expand its QlikView offering to the tablet.

“The applications on iPad look fantastic, but other than an attractive interface, we’re still left with the same old static reports, predefined queries and limited scope of analysis available to the end user,” Sands said.

“We hope to change that with QlikView.”

With Microsoft recently launching its Office 365 offering in the Asia-Pacific region, QlikTech sees its iPad offering as part of a bigger push by vendors towards helping mobilise work forces.

“The power and might of Microsoft will serve to further fuel the drive towards enabling people to work anywhere at any time, and we see ourselves complementary to that,” Sands said.

QlikView for iPad is now available in Australia from QlikTech.
