Mac2 partners with Yellowfin

Integrates solution into Cloud-Based business analytics platform on AWS

Australian business intelligence (BI) and software provider, mac2 Data has partnered with vendor Yellowfin to provide Cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform.

The Melbourne-based reseller embedded Yellowfin’s BI product into its hosted business analytics solution, deploying Yellowfin on a cluster of servers utilising AWS’ EC2 compute platform.

The company uses AWS’ petabyte-scale data warehouse service, Redshift, as the data source within its PaaS environment.

mac2 Data director, Adam Sharp, said its hosted business analytics solution satisfied a gap in the BI marketplace by removing barriers that traditionally prevented SMEs from taking advantage of the decision-making capabilities of enterprise-grade BI.

“Historically, SMEs have been reluctant to embrace BI – primarily due to prohibitive costs, complexity and a dearth of in-house expertise. With Yellowfin, we’re able to make genuinely world-class BI accessible to the SME market in a hosted environment – both architecturally and commercially.”

Sharp said that the reseller selected Yellowfin due to its ability to integrate into mac2’s business model, meeting the financial and technical requirements of cloud-based BI deployment best practice.

“Yellowfin’s flexible subscription licensing, and customized revenue-share approach to ISV partnerships, meant that it could integrate effortlessly into mac2 Data’s existing business model.”

Yellowfin general manager for APAC, Patrick Elliott, said that mac2 Data’s usage of AWS technologies and its implementation of Yellowfin, ensured an exceptional overall end-user experience.

“With Yellowfin’s help, mac2 Data’s PaaS BI solution delivers SMEs lower total cost of ownership, enhanced flexibility, seamless scalability, faster deployment and easier self-service access – all while reducing delays and optimising its clients’ IT resources.”
