Goes live in Australia today for American Express users

Apple iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users can begin using the tap-to-pay service, Apple Pay in Australia today.

Apple Pay will also be rolled out in Canada with Hong Kong, Singapore and Spain going live early next year.

Online payments provider, eWay, has also made it possible for its base of online retailers to accept Apple Pay.

eWay powers 21,000 online stores and already accepts contactless American Express payments. Some of eWay’s merchants on-board with accepting Apple Pay include Kogan.com, Living Social, Brands Exclusive, Eat Now and The Home.

"After 17 years in eCommerce payments we know what Aussie merchants need to be able to grow. Offering Apple Pay with our SmartPOS devices will undoubtedly help merchants improve the payments experience for their customers and in turn, increase their revenue,” eWay CEO and founder, Matt Bullock, said.
