Aussie IoT start-up taps Equinix for global reach

Australian Internet of Things (IoT) Platform-as-a-Service Provider (PaaS) Reekoh, has signed a deal with global data centre operator, Equinix, to offer its integration platform to enterprises through the provider’s facilities.

The Manila-based company was founded in Australia and has an office in Sydney.

Specifically, it offers a platform that enables users to provide and manage instances; view data consumption for each instance; manage user access to the account and individual instances; view and manage billing account and payment details; and update their company details.

Reekoh also provides plugins; an IoT platform for system integrators; instance management console, device management, topologies, filters and converters, and communications network solutions; and Plugin Store that enables users to integrate IoT data with cloud platforms, tools, and services.

Reekoh said the combination of Equinix’s low latency, direct, private connections to 500 cloud service providers, and its newly IoT integration platform for enterprises would be an attractive proposition for customers and partners.

In addition, the company said container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, Reekoh were bringing a market-leading capability to customers looking to take full control of their IoT stack.

Reekoh said vendor agnosticity was key to the deal.

Equinix has a multinational footprint of data centres in 44 markets which gives Reekoh instant scale and it said the additional benefit is secure, direct connectivity to Equinix’s extensive ecosystem of clouds and enterprises already deployed inside its International Business Exchange (IBX) facilities.

Equinix Australia managing director, Jeremy Deutsch, said the collaboration marked an important stage in accelerating the data centre operator’s own IoT vision.
