Barracuda Networks has promoted Andrew Huntley, making him the security vendor's new regional sales director of Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands.

Based in Brisbane, Huntley’s responsibilities include building on sales momentum created through the vendor's channel program, which has attracted the "highest calibre partners" and a growing list of customers.

"Andrew’s demonstrated leadership, sales and channel skills naturally align with Barracuda’s commitment to help customers use cloud innovation to safeguard their networks, data and applications,” Barracuda Asia Pacific vice president of sales, James Forbes-May, said.

Huntley first joined Barracuda in May last year as a territory account manager, having worked as the A/NZ and Pacific Islands partner account manager for Arcserv, while also spending more than nine years as channel account manager for Datastor Australia.

“As cyber security and data protection increasingly gain traction with businesses in the Pacific region, cloud computing is becoming the clear way forward,” Huntley said.

“We’re committed to working with our partners and customers in the best possible way to empower them to have advanced protection without impacting their day-to-day operations.”

In November, Barracuda was acquired by private equity firm, Thoma Bravo, in an all-cash transaction valued at US$1.6 billion.

The deal will help Barracuda expand and accelerate its business globally, across its cloud security and data protection portfolio.
