Acer to provide PCs and notebooks for NSW schools

Selected for NSW Department of Educations standing offer arrangement

The NSW Department of Education has selected Acer to provide PCs and notebooks for NSW schools as part of a standing offer arrangement.

The contract covers a range of devices including Windows desktops and notebooks, Chromebooks and workstations.

Acer Australia was selected following a standard tender process with the department, announcing the deal in its newsletter in the beginning of the current quarter. The standing offer was also published on eTendering on 14 June.

According to the announcement the agreement provides schools with more choice when ordering new equipment. There is no set number of units attached to this standing offer or an agreed limit value, the Department confirmed to ARN.

An Acer spokesperson also told ARN that "any numbers in the public domain are based off spending estimates from previous contracts and current installation base".

The contract is for three years, having started in April 2019, with two one-year extension options.

"The hardware will be purchased as required so there is currently no timeline for delivery of the hardware," a department spokesperson told ARN.

The Acer spokesperson said it has already commenced supplying the hardware to NSW schools.
