TechFlow migrates 500TB in data centre consolidation for Field Solutions

Offers flexible colocation in Sydney data centre

Telecommunications carrier and IT provider Field Solutions has worked with Sydney-based TechFlow to consolidate its data centre.

Based in Belrose, New South Wales, publicly-listed Field Solutions provides telecommunication services to rural and remote Australia.

In 2017, it acquired Australian National Telecom and also built its own fixed wireless and fibre to the premises network, as well as adding both NBN and non-NBN satellite services.

The telco saw then the need to consolidate its IT systems, so awarded a multi-year contract to TechFlow for colocation services.

One of Field Solutions' challenges was that it had data centres housed across several locations and it was under an "inflexible" contract with its previous colocation provider.

Because of acquisitions and organic growth, the company had various IT platforms across five different locations that needed to come under one roof, Field Solutions required an infrastructure refresh.

In light of those issues, the telco engaged TechFlow to migrate 500TB of storage, more than 100 applications and 500 servers into one location.

TechFlow migrated all to a "large Sydney data centre" and procured and implemented IT hardware from "multiple" vendors.

According to TechFlow, some of the benefits to Field Solutions include a more flexible and cost-effective data centre deal and the ability to meet new business demands.

TechFlow works with Global Switch for colocation solutions, Equinix for disaster and recovery and also NextDC. It also works with AWS for cloud services.
