Rackspace has appointed Sean Girvin as its managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Girvin joins the manage-cloud provider from HPE where he spent the last eight years and was most recently the vice president, head of sales for South Pacific.

Based in Sydney, he will be responsible for pioneering Rackspace as the partner of choice for cloud services, while also building a great workplace that attracts and develops the best talent in the industry, the company said in a statement.

He also has held leadership positions at HP and Electronic Data Systems (EDS).

I very much look forward to working with the team as we help customers accelerate the value of the cloud and ensure Rackspace is recognised as the best partner in the marketplace, helping companies on their journey to get the most out of their cloud investment,” said Girvin.

He replaced Darryn McCoskery who was promoted to MD in August 2018. He worked for the company almost four years before taking on the managing director role. ARN has contacted McCoskery for comment.

Meanwhile, Rackspace has also appointed Sandeep Bhargava to the newly created role of managing director of Asia-Pacific Japan.

Bhargava will be in charge of driving Rackspace’s growth across the region and establish strong local teams.
He has over 20 years of IT services experience, including roles at DXC Technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HP, Dell EMC and Procter & Gamble.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Sandeep and Sean to the Rackspace family,” said Kevin Jones, CEO of Rackspace. “They bring with them a wealth of global experience and outstanding track records for leading and transforming businesses with energy and passion."
