Adaptec upgrades its CD-Writing

With burning of storage data to CDs being one of the biggest retail demand hot spots at the moment, Adaptec has come to the party by launching an upgraded version of its CD-recording/ReWritable software, Easy CD Creator Deluxe.

It is the opinion of Malcom Parsons, Adaptec's recently appointed country man-ager for Australia, falling prices of CD recorders globally and the introduction of rewritable technology have given the storage medium a boost.

"According to IDC, shipments of CD-Recorders are forecast to increase to 15.7 million internationally by the year 2000 and Australia is expected to follow this trend," said Parsons.

Though not being the sort of features which software, music and games publishers would want to hear about, one of the major features of the upgraded package is the enhanced CD Spin Doctor. This allows users to turn analog recordings (such as LPs and tapes) into digital CDs with all the "pops, hisses and scratches" being cleaned up.

Said to be completely compatible with, and applicable to, any of the standard software bundled with CD-R/RW drives, Easy CD Creator Deluxe 3.5 has a recommended retail price of $180. Current users of Version 3.0 can take advantage of a special free upgrade offer to the new version by downloading the new software from Adaptec's Web site www.adaptec.com.
