Intelligence win for CSC and Seagate

Intelligence win for CSC and Seagate

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) will piece together a $1 million business intelligence system at the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.

It is the largest deal to date for Seagate Software's Enterprise Information Management (EIM) suite and will see DIMA roll out over 800 licences of Seagate Crystal Info and 150 licences of Seagate Holos.

DIMA's new Integrated Management Information and Reporting System (IMIRS) aims to make consistent corporate information available to all levels of DIMA management. The tools will report off a variety of data sources, including a new Oracle-based data warehouse and existing SAP and mainframe-based operational systems.

The project will define new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measurement capabilities for activity-based costing.

This is expected to help management better understand the performance of DIMA sections and quickly and accurately advise the Federal Government about the potential impact of proposed changes to immigration policy.

Phil Ninn, CSC project manager, said Seagate's solution was the best fit technically and represented value for money. "We looked for front-end tools that work equally well with data warehouses and operational systems, are scalable, secure and easily managed," he said.
