Retail chain Dick Smith Electronics last week confirmed reports by ARN (see ARN August 12, page 1) that the organisation is due to open a second PowerHouse in the Sydney suburb of Penrith.
The store, located on the corner of Batt Street and Mulgoa Road, Penrith, is about six times the size of an average Dick Smith store, according to officials. It features over 20,000 products including computers, big screen TVs, camcorders, video equipment and a range of peripheral and accessory products.
Other attractions include a dedicated home theatre sound room, a fully functioning digital editing suite and an Internet bar.
Commenting on the PowerHouse opening, Dick Smith Electronics managing director Jeff Grover said: "The concept focuses on the convergence of consumer technology in the Australian community.
"The aim is to bring all kinds of electronic, communications and computer-based technology to Australians in an informative and non-threatening environment," he said.
