Cognos has announced a new version of its DataMerchant product for packaging, distributing, metering and selling database information over the Internet, extranets or intranets.
According to officials, the product is tar-geted to organisations that sell data, like demographic and industry-specific information for planning and performance management.
New features incorporated in version 2.0 include enhanced auditing, intelligent interfaces that adapt to user profiles, and wizards for creating easy-to-use data merchandising applications.
An out-of-the-box solution, Cognos claims administrators can have an Internet data access application running in less than 90 days.
DataMerchant 2.0 for Windows NT is available immediately for $100,000 per server. It supports Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server and other ODBC databases.
