It seems that rorting the system is still a popular pastime in certain sections of the dealer community. ARN has discovered some sly dogs who have made it their business to use a different dealer's account details when dealing with distributors. This follows reports by ARN (See ARN October 29, page 1) of rort and theft allegations levelled at Ho Electronics and SuperEdge Technology by national distributors including Digiland, Anite Technology and Dicker Data.
The Shaky Isles' biggest distributor has lost its leading man with Auckland- based managing director Trevor Grey jumping ship for personal reasons. He offered these words of wisdom on his departure: "I've spent enough time running an IT distribution business and my kids are getting older so I'd like to take summer off with them. It's a tough industry and I don't get a huge amount of satisfaction from the job anymore." Finally, someone speaking some sense!
A little ARN fly buzzed by the ATUG offices recently and overheard one of the telecommunication user group's senior executives making plans to embark on a solo career in the gangbusters telecomms market.
