Global Trading Industries, the Sydney-based computer reseller that claimed to have lost more than $1 million worth of stock during a truck hijack, has since proved impossible to contact.
The company’s Bankstown office is boarded up while both the company’s 1300 customer service number and its regular office number are disconnected.
ARN has been contacted by several consumers, who have paid for notebook computers from the reseller and are concerned they will not receive their stock.
Phone calls to GTI director, Jardine Jordan, went unanswered.
As previously reported in ARN, the reseller claimed one of its trucks, carrying 680 Hyundai notebooks worth more than $1 million, was recently hijacked at gunpoint.
On its website (www.gti.com.au), the reseller apologises to the many customers who have paid for notebook computers that they had yet to receive.
“Global Trading Industries [GTI] delay delivery of goods due to a vicious hijacking, kidnapping and theft,” the website reads. “GTI management and staff apologises for the extensive delays on their 1300 131660 number.”
Global Trading Industries is still listed as a registered company on the Australian Securities and Investments Commission website.
