Dynamic buys SDM Great Plains business

Melbourne-based Dynamic Business Consultants (DBC) has acquired the Microsoft Great Plains division of Strategic Data Management (SDM), adding two extra staff and 13 customers in the process.

DBC managing director, Terry Bolden said the acquisition was part of consolidating and growing the company's presence in Adelaide. DBC was already established in Adelaide as a result of its previous acquisition of Advanced Business Consulting in December 2004.

Bolden said he wanted to target South Australia's manufacturing industry with the Great Plains application, specifically with mid-sized infrastructure service suppliers, which included the mining, steel and ship building industries.

Bolden said DBC had installed a million Great Plain applications before the acquisition and predicted this number would double in the next 12 months. He also hoped to double the company's revenue in the next year.

SDM managing director, Geoff Rohrsheim, said the deal was a good move and allowed the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner to focus on its core business, which lies in Microsoft CRM, .Net application development, enterprise project management, workflow and collaboration, and business intelligence. Rohrsheim said Great Plains only accounted for 2 per cent of SDM revenues. "Dynamics has been in that line of business for a number of years and had the momentum to take it on board," he said.

In other news, SDM has taken on the CRM division of accounting management and business services provider, Moore Stephens.

Rohrsheim said this acquisition would improve the company's impact in Melbourne and add six customers to its base. He predicted this customer base would further expand with the new version of CRM due in early December.

"We are keen to accelerate our growth in Melbourne and we are expecting huge interest in the new CRM product next year," Rohrsheim said.
