FortuneTec tracks notebook sales with GPS

FortuneTec has signed with two GPS tracking vendors, Holux and Travroute, in an attempt to capitalise on the growing notebook market.

The component distributor's managing director, Justin Hsu, said it wanted to expand beyond its current power supply and storage appliance offerings.

"It was time to add more products to our range and the notebook market is getting much bigger," he said. "We would like some of that share."

FortuneTec will bundle the Holux GPS Bluetooth receiver and mouse with Travroute's CoPilot Live Laptop 8 mapping software.

"We think most interest will come from the retail sector but any resellers that want to take on the GPS package can," he said. "It's a good value-add when selling notebooks."

The distributor will also be introducing a new range of FortuneTec branded eSATA external storage devices. Hsu is looking to recruit 500 resellers and system integrators that serve the corporate and SOHO markets.

"We want more resellers to increase the market share of our new high-end range," he said.
