LaTrobe looks to Alphawest for document management

Optus subsidiary, Alphawest, has won a tender with La Trobe University to deploy an electronic document management system.

The integrator's general manager for Victoria, Rob Szymanski, said it was a strategic win in the tertiary education sector that would see it use Tower Software's Trim Context across the university's law and management faculty office as well as its record and legal services units.

"It's a product that will help La Trobe develop a corporate information program," he said.

"We hope we can advance from the three areas that we are working in at the moment to provide a full implementation across the whole environment."

Alphawest will work with the records department management team to provide business analysis, technical consultancy, IT infrastructure advice, training, user acceptance testing and data migration.

Szymanski was looking to bring on more business analysts and consultancy staff to help with the project.

"We are hiring people all the time and we see this as a growing area for us especially in Victoria," he said.

The deployment is expected to be completed within three months.
