Ingram Micro inks Wasp Barcode deal

US barcode technologies push into small business

Ingram Micro has taken on a range of data capture and tracking solutions from US-based Wasp Barcode Technologies with a view to targeting the productivity needs of smaller businesses.

Wasp Barcode Technologies president, Steve Coffman, said Ingram Micro, as the largest Australian distributor, would give the vendor the strongest local presence.

"This includes the ability to serve value-added resellers and resellers that specifically serve small businesses," Miller said in a statement.

Ingram Micro business manager, Linda Pifat, said Wasp's barcoding solutions were easy to use.

"We are seeing increased demand from business owners who are looking for effective, affordable productivity solutions," she said.

Coffman said that Wasp had also signed a distributor in the UK, Midwich, as part of its global expansion plans. It wanted to build relationships with "powerful players" in various countries, he said.

Wasp products include inventory control, time and attendance, asset tracking, barcode printers, barcode scanners and POS solutions, mainly targeting smaller businesses.
