Acer and Perfektcom win $3m Tafe deal

Acer and channel partner to supply ultra small form factor PCs to Victorian Tafe

Acer, in conjunction with channel partner, Perfektcom, has won a $3 million contract to supply Victoria-based Holmesglen Tafe with its range of ultra small form factor (USFF) PCs.

The contract is for three years. Senior business development manager at Perfektcom, Mark Sakajiou, said getting a greener footprint was among the Tafe's three key requirements. Acer's USFF range includes its more energy efficient Veriton 1000.

"Holmesglen Tafe is looking at taking green initiatives, looking to us and Acer to assist with the automation of the entire fleet of desktops, and they want the flexibility to use different setups for different types of environments," he said.

In a statement, Acer education sales manager, Frank Ugolini, said it had focused on reducing Holmesglen's operating costs by enabling the Tafe to provide warranty services to its own user base. Acer is also sharing its e-Learning facilities with the Tafe's IT staff.

Sakajiou said Acer and Perfektcom have had a well-developed relationship for the past three years, and have supplied a number of other Tafes with Acer technology.

Perfektcom has five years' experience servicing Tafes around Victoria, both in storage and computing.
