Business Technology Partners opens in Adelaide

New services start-up will focus on providing server and workstation support for small businesses

Small business services provider, Business Technology Partners, is opening the doors to its new office in Adelaide on July 14.

The company was established by Microsoft small business server Most Valued Professional (MVP), Michael Jenkin, and Microsoft small business specialist, Sam Webster.

"Customers are not really being serviced the way they want to be serviced and everywhere we have worked it hasn't quite felt right," Jenkin said. "There seems to be a lot of small businesses that have a national and in some cases an international focus starting up in Adelaide, and there aren't enough people on the ground to service them."

Business Technology Partners will provide customers with server and workstation solutions. It will mainly focus on organisations with 3-25 computers.

"It's a services driven and partnering business, as well. If a partner needs assistance with one of their clients, I'll partner with them to try and provide expertise they don't have," Jenkin said. "We'll certainly work on systems of up to 400 users but the majority will be below 25."

The service provider plans to target several verticals including small to large legal firms, accounting practices and mining.

"We also provide services to non-profits where we can sign them up to cheap Microsoft software and cheap hardware through Cisco to try to get it under their budgets and find out where their problems are," he said.

Jenkin and Webster plan to expand the organisation next year by adding a second Adelaide office and establishing a Melbourne presence.

Jenkin has worked for various retail, wholesale, corporate and education firms and was most recently IT manager and team leader at Copyworld. Jenkin also runs his own community website focused on recycling secondhand PCs into preschools and primary schools.

Webster previously worked for NAB and also worked at Copyworld as a senior engineer.
