DWS brings on first chief operating officer

IT services outfit is looking to attract 20 more staff in Melbourne

ASX listed IT services outfit, DWS Advanced Business Solutions, has promoted Vivian Clark to the newly created chief operating officer (COO) role.

CEO and managing director, Danny Wallis, said the position followed his decision to take up managing director duties in February from Glen Fielding. At the time the company had been experiencing operational issues and reported lower than expected third-quarter profits of $3.6 million to March 31.

"Since Fielding's departure we decided not to make any management changes for six months," Wallis said. "The COO role is newly created because we have done away with a separate managing director position."

Clark will be reporting directly to Wallis. Her first point of focus will be to help drive company profitability and efficiency, Wallis said.

Clark was previously the CFO for DWS, which has now been taken over by former group investment manager, Lachlan Armstrong. That role has now been filled by Christine Pickard.

DWS is also boosting its Melbourne team and is currently searching for 20 staff in that state, Wallis said. DWS has more than 550 staff nationally.
