It's been a tough 12 months for the telecommunications sector but Equant is celebrating the first anniversary of its merger with former rival Global One.
Equant has also managed to combine the two company's global networks two months ahead of schedule. The consolidation of the two networks is expected to generate more than half of the $350 million in annual operating cost savings targeted for 2003. A further 70 duplicate network sites are still scheduled for closure by the end of the year.
Equant has also managed to create a single sales force and product portfolio, achieve its financial targets for the year's end, 2001, and sign up its 500th customer for its flagship IP VPN enterprise offering.
