Listed IT integrator Data#3 has secured a $3 million desktop licensing contract with Chubb Security, luring the security firm away from its incumbent supplier with a new licensing e-commerce site.
The contract involves licensing for a standard Microsoft desktop environment on approximately 2100 personal computers located in 86 Australian and seven New Zealand Chubb sites. There is also the option of purchasing additional applications and server products through Data#3 if required.
The contract was previously held through Chubb's UK office with Compaq, which previously served Chubb on a worldwide basis. Peter Gasparovic, general manager of IT at Chubb Asia-Pacific, said the company decided to go local and shopped around for the best price and service.
Laurence Baynham, general manager of enterprise solutions at Data#3, believes the contract was won primarily through a new e-commerce site Data#3 offers its clients which enables them to track and budget for all purchases made through the agreement.
Gasparovic said having this facility online saves him from having to duplicate the data at Chubb's end.
