Orange Business Services has bolstered its Asia-Pacific enterprise IP network to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan and its link from Australia to India.
The upgrades will see the ring network upgraded to 2.5Gbps, while Australia and India are now connected by multiple 622Mbit links. Other trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe network links have already been upgraded to Gbit speeds, and remaining Asia-Pacific networks will be improved later this year.
Orange Business Services A/NZ managing director, Tim Cavill, said the network improvements were designed to improve delivery of data, voice, video and cloud services.
“Our next-generation network allows companies to benefit from improved collaboration between international workers, with technologies such video conferencing and unified communications,” he said in a statement.
The Asia-Pacific network includes 60 “next-generation” routers to support the higher bandwidth links to Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea, and application prioritisation and SLAs. India is a core hub of the network with Virtual Private Network (VPN) coverage in eight cities.
Network links in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia have been upgraded with more than 1000 IP VPN ports, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) while local provider edge routing and Ethernet will be rolled out in Indonesia later this year.
The telco this week inked a five-year [[xref:http://www.orange-business.com/mnc/press/press_releases/2009/akzo-nobel.html| multimillion euro deal|Orange Business – news]] with Dutch industrial giant, AkzoNobel, to supply network services to 1000 global sites, including Australia. The network will help integrate the European and Asian sites of British company Imperial Chemical Industries which was acquired by the $28 billion AkzoNobel last year.
Orange Business network links include direct paths from Asia to Europe via Russia; India to the Middle East; Asia to South Africa; South Korea to Hong Kong, and Taiwan to Japan.
