VMware and Dimension Data go to school

Due to high demand Dimension Data Learning Solutions (DDLS) is the third training centre to offer VMware courses

Dimension Data Learning Solutions (DDLS) has signed an agreement with VMware to become an Authorised Training Centre.

DDLS will provide VMware certified five-day training courses to customers and partners across the core VMware set, including the latest vSphere4 offering.

DDLS general manager, David Gage, said during the last six to 12 months he had seen an enormous demand for VMware training.

“There’s no sign of that slowing,” he said. “It’s one of the technology areas gaining increased momentum.”

The three courses DDLS will kick off in July include: Install and configuration - which is entry level training that provides the fundamentals; Deploy, secure and analyse; and the fast track five-day training which combines the two courses.

Gage said in the long term, DDLS would have the capability to build courses around VMware and Cisco’s high spec server release this year.

VMware channel director, David Blackman, said demand for training had gone through the roof. Since passing its 1000th certified VCP this year, the vendor had certified hundreds more.

“With customers adopting virtualisation to increase efficiencies and reduce business costs, anyone who has a technical band is looking to become a VMware Certified Professional (VCP), creating a lot of job opportunities in the market place,” Blackman said.

“We’ve got more demand than we can fulfill. DDLS, with their scope, reach and strong reputation, will enhance our ability to train and bring skilled people to the market. They’ve got a huge customer and partner base that train through them."

VMware recently made some changes to its partner program, offering competency-based training in four areas: Infrastructure virtualisation; business continuity; desktop virtualisation; and virtualisation management.

Excom and HP also offer VMware training.
