Huawei, Marconi a step closer to distribution agreement

Comments

Chinese networking equipment vendor Huawei Technologies and U.K. telecommunications equipment maker Marconi are a step closer to inking a mutual distribution agreement, the two companies said in a statement Monday.

Huawei and Marconi are in talks to establish a mutual distribution agreement under which both companies would distribute some of the other's products to their respective customers, the statement said. They have also discussed how Marconi can help Huawei expand its business in Europe, it said.

On Monday, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding and will set up a working group to negotiate the mutual distribution agreement, the statement said. A more definitive agreement is expected to be signed by the end of March, it said.

Under that agreement, Marconi will distribute some of Huawei's carrier-grade data products and Huawei will distribute Marconi's access radio products, it said.
