Networking integrator sees opportunity for incremental business development as it ups its datacentre certification with key vendors and hires new staff

Networking integrator, NetStar, has taken its first steps into the datacentre space in an attempt to jump on-board cloud computing.

It will offer customers consulting, professional services, support and managed services for virtualisation and datacentre environments, and has picked up a new range of certifications with Cisco, VMware and EMC to establish its datacentre credentials.

NetStar marketing director, Oliver Descoeudres, said the increasing datacentre push by partner, Cisco, made the move a natural progression for the integrator as well.

“It’s an incremental solution step for us,” Descoeudres said. “In addition, our larger customers like how we operate and wanted us to help them out with their datacentres.”

Long-term, this move will enable NetStar to develop managed services around provisioning private cloud computing, Descoeudres said. The integrator is actively working with its vendor partners to facilitate that.

NetStar has also made a number of appointments to handle the new datacentre business. It has recruited three additional staff, a number which will double as the right skill sets are found.

NetStar is part of a group active in Australia and South-East Asia, and has three local offices, in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, which it opened in October last year.

Customers include Energy Australia, Tyco, Swinburne University and Transurban.
