- ASX-listed retailer, Clive Peeters (ASX:CPR), has reported a break-even operating profit for the half-year ending December 31 despite being hit by a multi-million dollar accounting fraud.

State of the market
- The markets plummeted more than 20 points in early trading, but have since recovered some of the loss. However, in afternoon trading it slipped back further. At close of trading, the S&P/ASX200 was down 16.6 points at 4545.5.
- The Aussie dollar opened slightly lower and is selling for $US0.8866. Gold is down 0.41 per cent to $US1090.2 an ounce while oil prices are largely steady at $US74.2 a barrel.
