TransACT adds Google Apps to services portfolio

Company will look at providing three types of bundling services aimed at the corporate and SME market

Communications service provider, TransACT and Neighbourhood Cable (NCPL), will begin offering a range of Google Apps to its customers.

The Canberra-based company hopes the deal will enable its customer base to dabble in cloud computing products. Applications on offer include word processing, virtual storage, managing calendars and email services. All presented a cost-effective way for companies and their staff to interact, TransACT and NCPL CEO, Ivan Slavich, said.

“TransACT has been in negotiations with Google as its products complement the target markets we would like to explore,” he said. “TransACT is looking to extend its high-speed network and the development of value-add services.”

TransACT will look at bundling Google Apps with its existing network capabilities, mobile services, smartphones, fixed-line services, netbooks and applications. It will introduce at least three variations of the Google Apps suite: ‘Bolt on’ application packs that can be added to existing customer products; a bundled office solution using Google Apps to help connect all the services required to run a business like a phone, broadband and mobile; and an on-demand type of service and apps bundle, where a business or home user can activate an Internet connection, productivity and collaboration tools for one price for a specific period of time.

Google Apps products and services will be available in the next few months. TransACT and NCPL aim to target SME and corporate markets.

“We will also look at introducing a residential and government solution,” Slavich added. “It’s a great opportunity to create a product that suits our customer’s growing needs.”
