HP introduces worldwide early access program for HP P6000 EVA

Fifth generation EVA delivers simplified application consolidation

Technology and services giant, HP, has announced a worldwide early access program for the upcoming HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA).

Targeted for general availability in mid-2011, it is now locally available and all HP distributors will have access to the program.

The P6000 EVA is part of the company’s converged infrastructure portfolio and is its fifth generation EVA.

The program has an installed base of nearly 100,000 EVA units deployed worldwide, typically installed for core business applications – from messaging to enterprise resource planning (ERP).

“Due to our clients’ need for ease-of-use and reliability, the EVA has become an essential storage building block of their most important applications,” HP South-Pacific StorageWorks Business Manager, Mark Nielsen, said.

It has a 6GB/second Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) back-end, support for standard SAS hard disk drives and eight gigabit fibre channel connectivity.

Further details on management enhancements and advanced software features will be released during June's HP Discover event in Las Vegas.

More information on the early access program is available on the HP website and from HP resellers or account representatives.
