Lenovo lands record attendees at A/NZ BP Roadshow

Lenovo recently held its 2011 Business Partner Roadshow, which landed an overwhelming attendance from the channel community.

The BP Roadshow, with events in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland and Wellington, was attended by 425 existing and potential Lenovo business partners.

At each event, the audience was introduced to the new portfolio of Lenovo Tablets, the ThinkPad Tablet and the IdeaPad Tablet K1 – the company’s first mobile Internet devices featuring the Android 3.1 platform.

The company also used the event to reiterate its commitment to its existing channel partners and their long term success, as well as meet with potential future partners.

Lenovo A/NZ channel director, Daren Finney, said, “Lenovo is now in its strongest position to-date. The company is now the second largest PC vendor worldwide and locally we have seen 33 per cent growth in our channel revenue and 42 per cent growth in our partner network in the last year alone.”

UXC Connect delivers Australian first contact centre solution

Australian ICT infrastructure services company, UXC Connect, has delivered its first contact centre solutions for businesses in Australasia by integrating the Genesys Skills Assessor, Genesys Workforce Management and Genesys Intelligent Workload Distribution to work as one business solution.

Working with leading Australian internet provider iiNet, UXC Connect has successfully implemented the solution into a pilot team of 250 agents located at the telco’s contact centres in Perth, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.

The pilot, which commenced last month and will continue for six weeks, allows tasks and knowledge tests to be automatically delivered to agents at times of low call volumes by sending an alert advising that a task needs to be completed all with minimum impact to contact centre operations.

UXC Connect CEO, Ian Poole, said that the pilot program with iiNet is a great example of how UXC Connect is working with its partners to deliver positive customer outcomes with measurable business results.

“This is a great result for UXC Connect and our Strategic Partner Genesys and it demonstrates the value for iiNet’s complete custom integration of the contact centre solutions to deliver a strong return on investment that reduces impact on workflow within the organisation,” he added.

Motion launches its Motion CL900 SlateMate

Global provider of tablet PCs and supporting mobility solutions, Motion Computing, has introduced the Motion CL900 SlateMate, a patent-pending productivity tool that extends the functionality of the CL900 Tablet PC.

The CL900 Tablet PC is a durable, lightweight tablet PC that provides up to eight hours battery life.

Together with the SlateMate, the mobile computing solution provides users with security, connectivity and the flexibility of fewer devices to manage.

The solution is aimed towards mobile professionals with its extended battery life, integrated tools, outdoor visibility, durability and touch-screen capabilities.

Motion A/NZ country manager, Brett Gross, said, “The CL900 SlateMate was built on the notion that purpose-built integrated tools maximise the benefits of tablet PC deployments – i.e. it will enhance the functionality of the CL900 Tablet PC to meet the needs of users in a variety of vertical markets.”

Its other functions and benefits include: integrated MagTek MSR, commercial-grade BCS, rapid data acquisition for improved documentation, real-time access to customer and inventory availability and improved customer service.

The CL900 SlateMate with MSR and BCS is now available through Motion’s network of resellers and distributors.

OBT deploys Melbourne node for Cloud services continuity

Australian private Cloud services provider, OBT, is now offering Australian businesses additional disaster recovery, high availability and failover services with the addition of a point of presence in Melbourne.

The new Melbourne node aims to further assist companies in complying with their disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.

According to the company, its strategy remains to continually improve the level of risk management systems and processes in place.

OBT managing director, Shane Muller, said, “With capability now in place to failover from both Sydney and Melbourne, our new service will help businesses to implement various measures to enhance corporate governance, risk management and internal control practices.”

He added that in a country like Australia, businesses are unfortunately all too familiar with the impact of natural disasters and the Brisbane’s floods earlier this year demonstrated the power of the physical environment to disrupt business.

Muller also said that successful organisations of any size realise that any disruption, regardless of how small, will have an impact on the business as a whole.

CA Technologies top in worldwide cloud systems management software

IT management software and solutions company, CA Technologies, has announced it has been named one of the top two market share leaders in the worldwide Cloud systems management software market by analyst firm, IDC.

According to the IDC report: Worldwide Cloud Systems Management Software 2011-2015 Forecast Update and 2010 Vendor Shares, CA Technologies owns 14.7 per cent of the market (based on 2010 estimated revenues) and is less than a half percentage point away from taking the overall lead in the important emerging segment.

IDC research vice-president of enterprise system management software, Mary Turner, said the top three vendors command nearly 44 per cent of the total market.

“This is still a fairly nascent market that IDC expects will experience rapid growth through 2015, by which time Cloud systems management software capabilities will be on the must-have list for enterprise and service provider customers alike,” she said.

CA Technologies market share includes revenues from its Nimsoft, CA AppLogic software and CA Business Service Insight offerings, as well as Service Automation products implemented in Cloud environments.
