E-commerce software vendor Ariba has closed its New Zealand operation and New Zealand manager Mark Heard and a support engineer in Wellington have been made redundant.
Partner esolutions, an alliance between Telecom New Zealand, Microsoft and Electronic Data Systems, was unaware of the move when contacted by Computerworld this morning. The joint venture offers an ASP (application service provider) version of Ariba Buyer. Telecom New Zealand is esolutions' only Ariba Buyer ASP customer to date.
Acting esolutions general manager Sue McCarty said she had heard nothing about the decision when first contacted but later had it confirmed by Ariba Australia.
"It doesn't change anything with our relationship at all. Our main contacts are in Australia and it's not supported locally."
Heard says he is evaluating job opportunities.
